WxWorx Releases WxWorx on Water Version 1.39 Print
February 11, 2009

WxWorx today released version 1.39 of WxWorx on Water, one of the marine industry’s most comprehensive and powerful graphical weather applications. Delivering mariners a wide-range of new features and enhancements, the software release includes Storm-Based Warnings, Winds Aloft, Virtual Buoys, times of Sunrise/Sunset, length of day and the ability to store and replay up to 23 hours of past weather information.

“With this latest release of WxWorx on Water, we have made value-added improvements,” said Bob Baron, president and CEO of WxWorx. “Since product innovation is one of our highest priorities, we continually look for ways to build upon and improve our weather detection tools, and this is just the latest in our legacy of innovation.”

Storm-Based Warnings

Unlike County-Based Warnings that were issued using geopolitical boundaries, Storm-Based Warnings focus on the true threat area and are not restricted to geopolitical boundaries, thus providing more specific warnings and increased clarity.

Winds Aloft

This feature provides wind speed and direction at higher altitudes.

Rewind Data

Once the WxWorx system is turned on, the data ingested within the last 23 hours can be replayed enabling the mariner to monitor changing conditions over the course of a day and to identify weather trends.

Virtual Buoys

In some locations, marine buoys are sparse, but with Virtual Buoys from WxWorx on Water, mariners can view marine weather conditions when there is not an actual buoy present. By averaging conditions from real buoys in surrounding locations, the software estimates marine conditions for any specific location on the map.

Sunrise/Sunset Data

Not only will this tool provide the length of day for any location on the map, it will also provide the precise times the sun will rise and set so mariners can maximize their time on the water.

WxWorx recommends that all WxWorx on Water users upgrade to the most recent version of software, version 1.39, by ordering the software disc online for a nominal fee or by downloading the software for free from the company’s Web site, www.wxworx.com. The latest software enables customers to view and interact with the latest from XM WX Satellite Weather and WxWorx.
