Seacor Marine Installs XM WX Satellite Weather in over 100 Vessels
November 28, 2006

XM WX Satellite Weather has announced today at the Workboat Show in New Orleans, LA., that SEACOR Marine has chosen XM WX as the on-board weather datalink service for its fleet of vessels.  A continuous data stream from XM WX Satellite Weather gives SEACOR Marine captains the information they need to make confident decisions on the water. SEACOR Marine vessels will now be able to access localized weather information onboard like High Resolution Radar, Lightning, Buoy Data, Wave Direction and Height, and Wind Speed and Direction.

SEACOR Marine, a subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings Inc., operates one of the world's largest fleets of marine support vessels servicing the global offshore oil and gas exploration and production industry worldwide.

SEACOR Holdings Inc. through its subsidiaries is a global provider of marine support and transportation services, primarily servicing the energy and chemical industries, including offshore services, U.S. coastwise shipping, inland river services, helicopter services, offshore and harbor towing services, and environmental services.

“XM WX provides our vessels with the most accurate and comprehensive suite of weather and sea-state information available,” Shull Autin, COO of SEACOR, said. “We will know exactly where the weather is, where it is going and what’s coming our way. Our entire US fleet is now equipped with XM WX and our Captains find it indispensable.”

“When you are out on the water, it is critical to know what the weather is going to be like both where you are and where you are going,” said Rod MacKenzie, XM Satellite Radio's Vice President of Advanced Applications and Services. “Now that SEACOR is fully equipped with XM WX, their Captains will have advanced situational awareness on the water.”

SEACOR will receive the data through XM’s S-band, dual-redundancy satellite system that provides service reliability throughout the continental United States and coastal waters, regardless of prevailing weather.  As the weather products provided as part of the XM WX service are geo-referenced, optional GPS information can pinpoint a vessel’s location in relation to the weather information, allowing ship captains to navigate their ships to harbor with a clear understanding of any changing weather conditions.
