XM Satellite Radio and WxWorx Offer a Compelling Package for Weather Channel Marine Customers
January 03, 2007

XM Satellite Radio and WxWorx have announced today that they are working with the maritime dealer network to offer a limited time program to Weather Channel Marine customers whose equipment is in the process of being phased out. The package being offered by WxWorx enables former Weather Channel Marine subscribers to receive the XM WX Satellite Weather high-resolution graphical weather data service as well as over 170 channels of the XM audio service including news, talk, sports and entertainment programming through a unique offer from XM Satellite Radio.

The $495.00 package from WxWorx includes all of the standard elements in the WxWorx on Water Premium package (including XM antenna, receiver, software, and cables) as well as an XM Delphi Roady XT for XM audio service. Coupled with the hardware is a special offer on XM services that provide one month free subscription to the XM WX Master Mariner package and one free month subscription to XM radio audio service with no activation fee for either service. To take advantage of this program, the customer must contact a participating dealer.  The dealer must return the existing WSI receiver to WxWorx as proof of program qualification.  This offer provides Weather Channel Marine customers an extremely compelling offer: advanced weather data of the XM WX service such as Satellite Mosaic Coverage, Lightning and NEXRAD, along with 170 channels of music, news, sports, talk radio, and XM original programming.

“Consumers choosing to take advantage of this offer will get the best weather and the best entertainment service available,” said Rod MacKenzie.  “After three strong years in the Marine Market, XM WX and WxWorx are proven and reliable.”

The flexibility of XM WX and WxWorx allows consumers to choose from a variety of display options, so they are not confined to proprietary hardware.  WxWorx software and hardware works with Maptech i3 Navigation System, Nauticomp displays, VEI displays, and most PCs, including laptops.

This program is available through April 1, 2007.
