Mr. Robert Baron, the founder of Baron Services, started the company after 22 years of broadcast meteorology experience. Mr. Baron received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and concluded additional studies at Pennsylvania State University and The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

He has been a long-standing member of the American Meteorological Society and in 1982 received the American Meteorological Society seal of approval for television. In 1996 his peers recognized Mr. Baron as the small business executive of the year, and in 2004 he was a finalist in Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year award. Mr. Baron was honored by the National Weather Association with a Special Achievement Award in November, 2006.


In 2007, Mr. Baron was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and was also selected as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. In June 2008, Ernst & Young honored Mr. Baron with the Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the technology category for the Southeast Region. The award honors the most outstanding entrepreneur of a technology-based company in the states of Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.


In 2009, Mr. Baron was recognized by his peers and received the American Meteorological Society’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advance of Applied Meteorology. Recognizing his long history of innovations, which have successfully alerted the public to threats from tornadoes and other severe weather events, this award represents the culmination of Mr. Baron’s commitment to weather detection excellence.


Most recently, Mr. Baron was named Fellow of the American Meteorological society. The rank of Fellow is given to an individual for recognition of outstanding contributions to the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences, or their applications, during a substantial period of years. A highly prestigious designation, only two-tenths of one percent of AMS membership is approved as Fellow each year.
